Elevators are a convenient for navigating multistory buildings, but require responisble use to ensure the safety of all residents.
Here are some important elevator safety tips:
- Observe weight limits. Avoid overloading the elevator with too many people or heavy items to prevent malfunctions and accidents.
- Hold the door open button. Always hold the door open button if someone is rushing to catch the elevator. Do not attempt to stop closing doors with your hands, arms or any objects.
- Mind the gap. Be mindful of the gap between the elevator and the floor when entering and exiting. Ensure that your footing is secure to avoid tripping or falling.
- Avoid jumping or horseplay. Avoid jumping or rocking the elevator, or engaging in any horseplay that could jeopardize the safety of yourself and others.
- Familiarize yourself with emergency procedures posted in the elevator. In case of an emergency, remain calm and follow instructions.
